A large-scale architectural aerial view of Bath, developed from my original hand-drawn ink illustration. As an RIBA architect and Member of the Society of Architectural Illustrators, my work explores the city through a precise architectural language, combining measured linework with atmosphere, pattern and memory. The original line drawing was produced by hand in Indian ink, with tonal shading added digitally before being produced as a giclée canvas print. This canvas has then been individually hand-embellished with composition gold leaf, acrylic pen detailing and a protective shellac finish. The gold-leafed sky and selected architectural details introduce a reflective surface that changes with the light, contrasting with the fine monochrome drawing below. The result is a layered architectural portrait of Bath, combining traditional drawing, digital processing and hand-applied finishing.
