The cloak is a sculptural tribute to Boudica, embodying feminine strength, motherly love, ancestral power and protection. Inspired by her spirit as a warrior queen of the Celtic Iceni tribe and a mother who rose up to defend her people and her two daughters, the piece honours her legacy. The front panel is made from painted playing cards, a reflective surface of silver and light, symbolising resilience and strength. Several cards are inscribed with Ogham script, the Celtic ancient symbolism, grounding the piece to time. The main body of the cloak – hessian fabric, dyed blue with Indigo. The red draped cords represent the bloodline, connection, continuity and the emotional threads between mother and daughters. The macrame knots are like threads of storytelling, each one tied with intention, becoming a therapeutic, healing ritual that weaves memory and emotion into the work.
