This particular work (Field series) exploits light reflections on the surface, which create transient patterns and shapes that change depending on the direction of gaze. The work depicts forms that emerge naturally by the interaction of the repeated accumulation of the materials - much like patterns that occur over time in the natural world. No preparatory marks are made beforehand, the rows of stitches are layered next to one-another until they cover the entire field of the canvas. As everything is by hand, the flow of stitches distorts and undulates, dictating how the work progresses, contributing to the final surface.
