I paint in watercolours and in oils. My subjects come from my surroundings, I'm always on the prowl and open to the moment when something seemingly ordinary suddenly carries a deeper meaning or a subtle magic, suddenly resonates in my imagination. I love it when aesthetic possibilities rise from unexpected sources such as, for instance, a neglected bungalow, or the dusk settling over a road. I love to paint people, too. This year, I am submitting two figurative oil paintings, one a portrait of my husband, and the other, my grandson sitting alone at a table watching Bluey on his tablet.  

Award winning artist Ros Cuthbert MA (RCA) RWA graduated from the Central School of Art and Design London in 1974. She was tutored by the visionary painter Cecil Collins, and internationally respected wood engraver Blair Hughes-Stanton. She went on to study her MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art where she explored the figure, pattern and still life subjects, winning the Figurative Art Prize in 1977. In 1981 Ros moved to Winscombe, North Somerset where she still lives and works.  
Ros works in oils and watercolour. She is inspired by the rural and urban landscapes of her locality, and also paints portraits and still life. 
In 1998 Ros became an RWA Academician. She has work in numerous public  collections, and in private collections world-wide.
