The main subjects in my work reference important current movements, environmental, social or political. The starting point is always selected from a series of my own photographs, illustrating an issue that I  care about and use my work to draw attention to it.

I usually work on panels, using a traditional oil painting technique, starting with a warm or neutral ground and building the image in layers. The ideas of contemporary figurative artists such as Sarah Gillespie and Denis Sarazhin have influenced me.

Currently and into the future I am returning to another major concern, which is the impact of climate change, so am planning a series of paintings and drawings of at risk plants and animals in this country.

I graduated from Wimbledon School of Art with a degree in Theatre Design and worked for many years as a scenic artist.

Since then I have worked on murals, portraits and landscapes, exhibiting in Coventry, Banbury and Bristol. In 2018 I was the Ironstone Art Prize People’s Prizewinner.
