I live in a part of Shrewsbury called Cherry Orchard but now, walking the streets of this conservation area, cherry trees are conspicuous by their absence. Prior to 1895 this land, which is very close to the Abbey, probably was an orchard. This painting is the first in a series of studies of the non cherry trees that are to be seen in this delightful part of town.
