Parian Porcelain

These framed sculptures are hand built using modelling clay, from which I made plaster slip moulds before casting them in Parian porcelain from bones collected while exploring the Archipelago. Each bone is carefully observed and recreated by hand, preserving subtle irregularities and acknowledging the translation from natural object to ceramic form. Chosen for its delicate translucency, Parian porcelain echoes the visual qualities of weathered bone, creating a dialogue between material and subject. Presented within a wooden frame, the work invites close observation of often overlooked forms, exploring themes of fragility, memory and the natural world.
