Early one morning I glanced out of my window and was caught in a moment of light, stillness and bird song. It was before the sound of early traffic when blinds and curtains were still drawn in the houses. That moment for me became a liminal space between night and day, past and present, stillness and movement; peace within an increasingly unpredictable and volatile world. Total absorption in the process of painting and my response to a moment in time, nourishes an awareness of growth and renewal and the interconnectedness of everything. I studied at St Albans and the Byam Shaw schools of Art in the 1960s and currently live and work in Bath.
