I graduated from Bath Academy of Art specialising in illustration for my B.A. During this time I was selected to study at the Cooper Union School of Art, New York, where I had access to the paper making department and experimented with hand made paper and print. Recent work has been inspired by revisiting these early experiments with paper making. The natural world is the source of inspiration for my work. I live in the midlands, surrounded by the rural landscape, and have watched the transformation of the land around me, the different seasons sliding from the warm yellow ochre crops of the flat fields to the darker linear ploughed lines of autumn. The stuff itself of paper pulp in its liquid malleable form becomes a tangible palpable image as well as the substrate. I incorporate carved found weather beaten fragments of wood, collaging and layering There is an emphasis on field patterns, with converging plough lines, big changing skies, and remote agricultural buildings.
