Stained Glass and Unglazed Ceramic Mosaic

A triptych of silver birch trees in fine art mosaic. It is a study in contrast between the grounded permanence of nature and the ephemeral atmosphere. Across three detailed panels, the textured bark of the birch trunks anchors the composition against backdrops of dawn, midday, and sunset. The deliberate pairing of materials along with the intricate hand cutting and shaping of each fragment, enhances this duality: the matte qualities of unglazed ceramic mimic the rugged chalky texture of the trunks, while the light-refracting properties of stained glass bring the fluid radiance of the shifting skies to life. The series highlights a timeless paradox: resilient, vertical trees standing against a fleeting, ever-changing sky.
