My work is rooted in direct observation of the landscape, with a focus on light, structure, and atmosphere. Whether painting the fields of Warwickshire at midday or the restless movement of the sea, I aim to capture a sense of place through natural color, tonal contrast, and expressive brushwork.

Influenced by contemporary plein air painters such as Marc Dalessio, I work outdoors and in studio to respond to changing conditions and the subtleties of light. At the same time, I draw inspiration from artists like Norman Ackroyd, whose monochrome coastal studies reveal the power of tone and mark-making to convey mood and presence.

Across both approaches, my intention is to create honest, unembellished images that reflect the character of the landscape and the moment in which it is experienced.
