Originally from a print background ( printed textiles ) I find my fascination for texture, colour and repeated pattern is ever present. Similarly, a love of movement, and in particular dance, often underlies my interest in trying to capture the lively rhythm of repeated motifs in the space they inhabit as well as the space that's left behind.

Inspired by a love of mid-century design, illustration and the warm textures of old school lithography, lately I've been using a combination of hand cut stencils and a my own printed papers in a series of collages, such as the example I've submitted. I like to work in a way that means I often make all the elements of the piece first, and then try to inject movement and rhythm by 'choreographing' these elements through the space - a performance in paper you could say!

About myself; I've been lucky enough to have some great creative 'day jobs' over the years. After graduating I spent quite some time restoring antiques, specialising in gilding on glass ( Verre Eglomise ) and painted furniture. Recently I've found much of my work has been in the area of visual merchandising and styling.  Each of these has allowed me to both hone old skills and practice new ones. Only very recently have I decided to let go of the day job and finally work on my own projects. Gulp.
