Acrylic
h: 42 w: 59 d: 1 (cms).
This painting is inspired by my visit to the Somerset site of Heal Rewilding (a nature recovery charity), near Frome. It depicts my first encounter with a wild beaver dam, on a crisp autumn morning during 2025 (the year when the dam appeared). Wild beavers have recently made a welcome return to the United Kingdom, after being hunted to extinction on mainland Britain centuries ago. They skilfully build watery homes for themselves and, inadvertently, for other wildlife. In doing so they bring benefits to people, such as downstream flood alleviation and creating delightful places of wonder - I have attempted to capture the latter.

Lime wood on board
h: 47 w: 61 d: 3 (cms).
A recreation of Henri Bellechose's 1415 painting The Martyrdom of St Denis, I chose to isolate the formal composition of the painting and build it in hand cut pieces of lime wood. Removing the polychromatic values of the original speaks to the harmonies of time and of action, allowing the image to speak in material.

Ink and 24ct gold leaf on paper
h: 51 w: 83 d: 1 (cms).
An intricately detailed ink drawing on paper with hand applied 24ct gold leaf. My intention was to capture the luminous atmosphere of Golden Hour on Brock Street in Bath - that fleeting moment when the Georgian stonework glows with warmth and the lights begin going on within the houses. The hot air balloons shimmer with radiance as they hover above Victoria Park.

Indian ink, Giclée canvas print, composition Gold leaf, Acrylic pen and Shellac
h: 102 w: 102 d: 40 (cms).
A large-scale architectural aerial view of Bath, developed from my original hand-drawn ink illustration. As an RIBA architect and Member of the Society of Architectural Illustrators, my work explores the city through a precise architectural language, combining measured linework with atmosphere, pattern and memory. The original line drawing was produced by hand in Indian ink, with tonal shading added digitally before being produced as a giclée canvas print. This canvas has then been individually hand-embellished with composition gold leaf, acrylic pen detailing and a protective shellac finish. The gold-leafed sky and selected architectural details introduce a reflective surface that changes with the light, contrasting with the fine monochrome drawing below. The result is a layered architectural portrait of Bath, combining traditional drawing, digital processing and hand-applied finishing.

This wing section is from a North American Mustang P51B world war 2 fighter aircraft. The wing was hidden behind an aircraft hanger in Kent along with other parts of the dismantled airframe. The markings on the wing show that the aircraft was used by both American and British forces during the war, weathering has revealed under painting of original insignia From American re allocated to RAF forces.

acrylic on canvas with painted wood tray frame
h: 40 w: 50 d: 2 (cms).
Early one morning I glanced out of my window and was caught in a moment of light, stillness and bird song. It was before the sound of early traffic when blinds and curtains were still drawn in the houses. That moment for me became a liminal space between night and day, past and present, stillness and movement; peace within an increasingly unpredictable and volatile world. Total absorption in the process of painting and my response to a moment in time, nourishes an awareness of growth and renewal and the interconnectedness of everything. I studied at St Albans and the Byam Shaw schools of Art in the 1960s and currently live and work in Bath.

Hand-carved Bath Stone with Mixed Media
h: 60 w: 60 d: 8 (cms).
Hand-carved from Bath Stone, this unique sculpture combines the permanence of stone with the symbolism of a traditional pocket watch. The work explores themes of time, memory and endurance, contrasting the precision of a man-made object with the natural character and fossil rich texture of the stone. The piece is carved entirely by hand, celebrating the material's history whilst transforming an everyday object into a sculptural form.

Mixed Media on Stretched Canvas
h: 60 w: 60 d: 4 (cms).
Two Sisters is a mixed media expressive work painted plein air at Cadover Bridge in Dartmoor National Park, Devon. Created in direct communion with the land, the painting moves beyond the visual record of a place to capture the spirit and emotion that flows through a landscape as we move within it. Working on natural canvas and with the layered mixed media allows me to capture the complexity of the moorland itself in combination with my own emotions. The title reflects this sensitivity to nature as a relationship rather than just scenery.

Acylic on wood panel
h: 50 w: 50 d: 2 (cms).
In my work, which is always rooted in narrative, I try to capture the fleeting moments of connection between humans and the animals who share their lives. I depict simple scenes, which are not grand or heroic but small and tender. I work in a series never knowing quite where I am heading and the characters and compositions change through a process of layering and editing.

Coloured pencil on paper
h: 21 w: 30 d: 1 (cms).
Drawn from my collection of found photographs from the mid 20th century that I have been accumulating. These photographs most often are amateur snapshots depicting domestic and banal scenes of suburban homes and interiors, void of human presence. The homes within the images feel unknown, unfamiliar, distant; Being from a distant time that has past and from a place that would physically distant and unknown to us. I hope by representing these spaces that the viewer may begin to form their own narratives around them.

This painting explores the musical notation of 'staccato'. To me, the detached and abrupt rhythm of staccato lends itself perfectly to an abstract two dimensional interpretation of the sharpness of energy, separation and vitality of movement found in music using the musical notation.

Print making (intaglio tetra pack)
h: 50 w: 36 d: 1 (cms).
Love in Bloom is a print of a beautiful bunch of flowers created by my 15-year-old daughter Sophia, who is dyslexic and AuDHD. This piece represents love, gratitude, and the special bond between a daughter and her mum. Sophia’s journey through education can be challenging, as she often struggles with expectations such as sitting still, managing emotions, expressing herself, and completing traditional exams. Despite always trying her hardest, she can feel misunderstood by a world that does not always recognise the way she learns and experiences life. During her work experience at the Print Co-op, Sophia created this piece as a way to show her love and appreciation. These are Sophia’s own words: “I wanted to make this work to say I love you so much and I’m sorry I shout, but I really love you so much I don’t know what I would do without you, you get me so much help and support.” Love in Bloom shows that even through challenges, love continues to grow.

Stained Glass and Unglazed Ceramic Mosaic
h: 30 w: 64 d: 2 (cms).
A triptych of silver birch trees in fine art mosaic. It is a study in contrast between the grounded permanence of nature and the ephemeral atmosphere. Across three detailed panels, the textured bark of the birch trunks anchors the composition against backdrops of dawn, midday, and sunset. The deliberate pairing of materials along with the intricate hand cutting and shaping of each fragment, enhances this duality: the matte qualities of unglazed ceramic mimic the rugged chalky texture of the trunks, while the light-refracting properties of stained glass bring the fluid radiance of the shifting skies to life. The series highlights a timeless paradox: resilient, vertical trees standing against a fleeting, ever-changing sky.

Oil on canvas
h: 61 w: 51 d: 1 (cms).
Rain. That’s My Final Answer explores a quiet, easily overlooked moment of everyday life, an early morning pause before the working day begins. Set against the muted atmosphere of a supermarket forecourt, the painting focuses on a solitary figure checking the weather, coffee in hand, before starting his shift. Rather than grand narrative, the work is interested in stillness, routine and the quiet dignity found in ordinary lives. Painted in oils with an intentionally restrained, painterly background, the focus rests on gesture, expression and atmosphere, inviting the viewer to bring their own reading to the moment. Oil on canvas panel 61 × 50.8 cm (24 × 20 in)

'Spell Weaver’ is an original handmade linocut print of a wonderful twisting beech tree near my home in Somerset. As well as its beautiful spiralling form, which makes it seem to dance or fling out its branches in wild gestures, I was interested by the folklore of the beech tree, sometimes called the Wishing Tree or Mother of the Woods. I love how every tree has its own unique character and tried to capture that in this print. I used Pfeil tools to cut the lino and printed it using an antique book press with Caligo Safewash inks.

'Sky Heart' is an original handmade linocut print of a hawk poised in it's element. In folklore hawks are often seen as messengers from the Spiritworld, representing intuition, wisdom and vision. The influence is the comedy series "Absolutely Fabulous". Pasty and Edina love fashion and lifestyle. Saffron, Edina's daughter attempts to keep everything in control (acceptance and a student). Bubble is also important to show "community acceptance". Around July 2024 Flo Edwards briefly stood right in front of me, the High Street, Bath. Two young women stopped her and congratulated her. - Bath life, Bath Business and the London link. They all go shopping in Bartlett Street, Bath. Who can you spot?

A track crosses the River Chew, leading into nature's labyrinth- layer upon layer of wild foliage. Beams of dappled light illuminate the leaves as birdsong mingles with the gentle movement of the water. The scene invites stillness, offering a quiet moment to pause and observe. In this tranquil landscape, everything is interconnected. This painting captures a fleeting moment in time, where light, life, and nature exist in perfect harmony.

“All in the eyes” was created after I had just finished my GCSE exams, after a lot of art course work, I felt I had lost my passion and creative spark. But a couple weeks later I had the urge to paint a massive portrait. So here we are! The lady depicted i simply know nothing about, a picture I found whilst scrolling through striking portraits of people. Her eyes spoke to me and the way her hair fell, I don’t know this woman. And that’s the beauty of the painting. I created the backstory, and was draw in by her eyes. So that became the title. Similar to all my paintings, each brush stroke was placed with intention. And i enjoyed every second of painting this. Commissions available, please email: aimeecolette@icloud.com

A Glimpse Of Shadow / A Glimpse Of Light In My Room 011 explores the quiet movement of light and shadow. As light shifts over time, shadows emerge, dissolve and coexist in transient moments. I observe these subtle transformations as traces of loss, reflecting an inner landscape. The room becomes a space where presence and absence meet, each revealing the other. Through this interplay, the drawing reflects on how small changes within everyday spaces can evoke moments of contemplation, memory and connection.

This vibrant watercolour depicts Crook Peak, which is located on the western edge of the Mendip Hills and is a distinctive feature in the landscape. Its summit of craggy limestone is an exciting scramble at the end of a walk with amazing views. From here, you can enjoy a far-reaching panorama of the surrounding countryside and out to the coast. The area's limestone grassland and scrub are home to many birds, including stonechats. This tiny bird can be found in my watercolour if you search closely!

Parian Porcelain
h: 27 w: 33 d: 6 (cms).
These framed sculptures are hand built using modelling clay, from which I made plaster slip moulds before casting them in Parian porcelain from bones collected while exploring the Archipelago. Each bone is carefully observed and recreated by hand, preserving subtle irregularities and acknowledging the translation from natural object to ceramic form. Chosen for its delicate translucency, Parian porcelain echoes the visual qualities of weathered bone, creating a dialogue between material and subject. Presented within a wooden frame, the work invites close observation of often overlooked forms, exploring themes of fragility, memory and the natural world.

oil on canvas
h: 20 w: 20 d: 2 (cms).
Taking inspiration from The Collector (the 1963 novel by John Fowles and the subsequent film adaptation directed by William Wyler, 1965.) The painting is about being desired as a beautiful specimen, not a living, thinking human being. The subject is captured/trapped, literally, in this moment of realisation.
